I’ve never seen this many people. The square you see here tends to be full like this for concerts and stuff, but the crowds go WELL beyond. Over 300 thousand people came to the streets to welcome the soccer team. The bus traveled at 10mph all the way from the airport, and the crowds were full for the whole route. Cool stuff.
What especially surprises me is that there’s no nationalist or nazi symbols whatsoever
, which are almost always present at soccer events like these.

Our local news interviewed a grown man at a pub who began crying as he discussed the game. He was so proud that they had made it as far as they did and felt like they had won even before the game began.
Can’t even lie. Both my and my wifes eyes started welling up.

Here's hoping. I'm not a huge fan of the sport, but I appreciate the spirit and patriotism of the fans. They deserve that cup, and I hope next year is their year.

Kick ass. Since the US didn’t make it, I was obliged to cheer for Croatia*, which worked out well.
* Followed in a distant third by Germany and some other countries
